UPS - UPS Toulouse - Research Organisation

Organisation description

General description:

General description: UPS-UMR 5068 belongs to University Paul Sabatier (UPS). Since it's creation in 1969, the UPS has extended its multidisciplinary courses in the sciences, health, engineering, technology and sport and has developed one of the most important centers of scientific research in France. Located in Toulouse, the European capital of aerospace, the UPS is a renowned, outward looking European university. The areas of study cover a wide spectrum that can be grouped under 9 main scientific areas, in which all aspects of chemistry play a central role.

Expertise

Asymmetric synthesis, enantioselective catalysis, ionic liquids, aminoacids and peptide synthesis.

We have recently developed numerous unprecedented routes in ionic liquid chemistry, with an emphasis on chirality. Indeed, we successfully prepared new series of chiral ionic liquids that were tested as asymmetric auxiliaries and/or in chiral recognition. Also were studied for the first time various applications of ionic liquids in organic synthesis, such as

  • peptide synthesis,
  • C-P couplings,
  • fluorinations,
  • decarboxylations.
We have long-standing experience on asymmetric synthesis and catalysis, and we are intensively collaborating with Prof. G. Coquerel. We also have numerous collaborations with industries such as Cephalon Inc. (USA PA), Rhodia (F), Innate-Pharma (F), Solvionic (F).
