Welcome to IntEnant

IntEnant was one of the first research projects funded within the seventh research framework programme of the European Commission. The project started June 1, 2008 and completed May 31, 2011.

A consortium of 13 workgroups at 11 locations was performing scientific research on enantiomeric substances. The shortcut IntEnant means "Integrated Synthesis and Purification of Enantiomers" describing the targets of this project:

The scientists in this project aimed to simplify the synthesis and purification of enantiomeric substances, which are needed e.g. in pharmaceutical and food industry.

The pictures on this page show crystals of substances. Crystallisation in general is used as tool in chemistry to purify substances. For IntEnant and it's scientific results crystallisation was one step to achieve the selected goals.

Final workshop of IntEnant
"Integrated chemical synthesis & product purification"

12-13 May 2011
This workshop took place at KALKSCHEUNE,
Johannisstraße 2,
10117 Berlin/Germany
(www.kalkscheune.de).

The results of the INTENANT project were explained by industrial partners
  • AstraZeneca (Södertälje),
  • Bayer Technology Services (Leverkusen) and
  • MOLISA (Magdeburg).
The academia results were pointed out e.g. by
  • M. E. Brenna Politecnico di Milano,
  • M. Mazzotti and
  • S. Panke, both Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich/ Basel,
  • G. Coquerel, University of Rouen as well as
  • A. Kienle, and
  • A. Seidel-Morgenstern, boh MPI Magdeburg.
We were particularly pleased to welcome the international experts
  • Manfred Reetz, MPI, Muehlheim,
  • Wolfgang Lindner, University of Vienna and
  • Bernard Kaptein, DSM, Geleen
who completed the programm with their lectures on related themes. For details please read the full program

Detailed discussions were also stimulated by a poster session, where PhD students working in INTENANT presented their results.
